Well, we seem to have waited a long time for something that really doesn't help those of us who take estrogen alone! No increased risk of breast cancer...that doesn't surprise me since all the hype regarding that topic sounded like hysterical nonsense to me. No benefit to the heart? Well, that's what good nutrition and exercise are all about! My major worry, however, is that there seems to be an increased risk of stroke. Also, I worry about deep vein thrombosis (since I travel a lot on long haul flights to both Europe and Asia), and the WHI doesn't seem to have reported any results on DVT on this estrogen only study. What gives? I was surprised to hear that there is no benefit to my brain on estrogen...anecdotal evidence seems to say otherwise as I talk to other women. I was pleased to hear that my hips should be OK on estrogen, but I have an uneasy feeling that I don't really know any more now that I did before the WHI reported their results. I read somewhere that the risk of ovarian cancer increases after 10 years on estrogen, but that doesn't seem to be part of any ongoing study that I can find, so I don't know how reliable that info is. All in all, I still seem to still have many questions about the estrogen I take, but I have to say I feel better with it than I did without!
